*Yes, he calls religion a virus, but unless you're an ignorant lying piece of shit like Cornwell, you should know that the word "virus" in this context is not used in the negative, insulting way. He refers to memes, cultural ideas, including scientific ideas, by the way, as a form of virus, in the sense that, like a virus, it replicates through occupation of hosts, and like viruses, the only prerequisite for their existence is their ability to replicate.

Dawkins has, with considerable restraint, and careful distinction, said that SOME forms of religious indoctrinations, (such as threats of hellfire) and the overt way of forcing religions upon children by labeling them "catholic child" or whatever, can be called a FORM OF CHILD ABUSE. He has never compared it to pedophilia or any other form of abuse.

"Proving" is something you can do in math, and only math. For everything else we ask: Is there enough evidence? And it is easy enough collecting evidence of love, simply measure peoples pulse and body heat when they are touched by a loved one, or even see their picture, next to pictures of other random people.
So does love exist? Yes, the evidence clearly suggests it does.
Does sincere religiosity exist? Definitely, the evidence suggests it does.
Can you love Jesus or other imaginary gods with all your heart? Quite probably yes,my guess is that a similar pulse/picture test could measure that too.
Does God exist? Probably not, we have no evidence that suggests he does.

I am pretty sure the idea of hell came as a sort of social control. The idea of hell has been used for this for a long time before Christianity. But, the idea of hell certainly didn't come from the Jews.
You are right, it didnt come for "the jews" as you put it, nor from the torah, or Old Testament as Christians call it, the Old testament God was a terrible, vindictive, sadistic God, but once you were in the ground, he was done with you, but the so-called New Testament mentions and describes hell several times.

You know how sometimes, when comedy is really really bad, it to some degree actually becomes funny simply because its so poor? I always thought the hosts of "americas funniest home videos" had perfected that science of trying to be funny but failing at it so bad that it involuntarily becomes funny again. Seems like someone just managed to take that to an entirely new level.
